ALTA
The Adult Literacy Initiative of Grenada (ALIG) is a non-profit organization that offers free reading and writing classes for adults. The organization collaborates with The Adult Tutor Association in Trinidad and Tobago (ALTA) to provide functional, relevant literacy skills, crucial for daily communication. ALIG’s tutors are professionally trained and have been successfully assisting Grenadians for over eight years.
Classes are offered two days a week from 5- 7 pm and run for 3 academic terms per year; participants pay a small fee of EC $30 per term to cover workbook package costs. Because this program addresses a specific need in the Grenadian community, ALIG invites citizens to help recruit potential participants, volunteer with the organization, or offer donations and sponsorships to help expand the reach of the program.
